About the Artist
Antonija Butković is a Croatian illustrator and multidisciplinary designer whose work blends geometric abstraction with expressive, character driven storytelling. Through her recurring exploration of identity, vulnerability and the feminine psyche, she constructs figures that are at once fragmented and whole, masks that reveal rather than conceal. Her compositions move between body, mind and emotion, inviting the viewer into a space where inner states take on vivid almost sculptural form.
Her approach combines emotional depth with a precise graphic sensibility, resulting in artworks that feel both intimate and architecturally composed. Based in Zagreb, she works across digital illustration, product design and creative direction, producing museum grade fine art prints with a focus on quality and craftsmanship.
Artistic Approach
At the core of Antonija’s work lies an ongoing investigation of authenticity, emotional truth and the nuanced landscapes of the inner self. Her illustrations are built around the tension between what we reveal and what we conceal, often exploring the quiet but powerful space where vulnerability becomes strength.
Through bold color structures, layered geometry and symbolic anatomy, she constructs visual narratives that reflect psychological states, feminine archetypes and the intimate dialogue between body and spirit. Each artwork is an act of introspection translated into form, inviting viewers to recognize fragments of themselves within the composition.
Process & Materials
Antonija creates each illustration digitally, building shapes, layers and color harmonies with the precision of design and the emotional intuition of fine art. Her prints are produced using museum grade giclée techniques on archival Hahnemühle papers, ensuring longevity, depth and exceptional color fidelity.
Framing is done in solid Croatian oak paired with anti-reflective UltraVue glass, giving every piece a contemporary, gallery ready presence.
